Why Has Palm Springs Been the Presidents Destination for Decades ?

Since the 1950s  Presidents have visited, golfed and relaxed in the Palm Springs area . Starting with President Eisenhower who started frequenting Palm Springs in the 1950s and made several trips whereby the house he stayed in at Smoketree Ranch was dubbed  'the Western White House', and later he lived in Eldorado Country Club  in Indian Wells. President Kennedy was no stranger to Palm Springs , a lot was written about it . President Nixon visited and it is said that VP Spiro  Agnew  lived in the Desert after leaving office. President Ford made Rancho Mirage his home in Thunderbird Country Club until his passing. 1,329 Canadian Families Bought Palm Springs Real Estate ...

According to the Desert Sun , "A search by the Palm Springs Regional Association of Realtors staff showed 1,329 Canadian buyers and another 98 purchasers from other countries acquired homes or condos over the past year, based on a tally of those who registered international addresses. That figure could be higher because some foreign buyers may not have registered." Canadians have been and still are buying homes and condos at a fast pace in Palm Springs and all Desert Cities, taking advantage of the strength of the Canadian Dollar trading today at $105.40 US Dollar, and the real estate values in the Palm Springs area. What Does the Tax Credit Extension & Expansion Mean ?

The President of the California Association of Realtors, James Liptak explains what does the Tax Credit Extension and Expansion mean: "As it now stands, the federal tax credit will be extended through April 30, 2010, with a 60-day extension if a binding contract is in place prior to the deadline. First-time home buyers will continue to be eligible for a tax credit of up to $8,000, while existing homeowners will be eligible for a reduced credit of up to $6,500. To qualify for the $6,500 credit, existing homeowners must have lived in their current residences for at least five years. The bill also increases the qualifying income limits from $75,000 for single tax filers and $150,000 for joint filers to $125,000 and $225,000, respectively. The purchase price of the home is capped at $800,000 in both instances. Under additional provisions included in the bill, taxpayers can claim the credit on purchases completed in 2010 on their 2009 income tax returns. The legislation maintains t...
